Terri Lee and Patty-Jo dolls set to debut in time for the holiday season.

Dallas, TX – August 9, 2002 – The Terri Lee Family, in conjunction with Terri Lee Associates is proud to announce they will launch two new Terri Lee Dolls for direct response and retail distribution. Terri Lee Associates boasts members of the Terri Lee family and ownership of all intellectual property rights, trademarks and copyrights to produce and license Terri Lee collectibles. The Terri Lee and Patty-Jo dolls are set to hit the market during the fourth quarter of 2002.

Your friend from yesteryear is back! She has survived two devastating and mysterious fires and the demise of two major companies. Through it all – Terri Lee is the equal of a Phoenix rising from the ashes. A true icon in the collector doll industry that is back and here to stay with 2 collector newsletters and several annual Terri Lee tradeshow conventions.

Terri Lee was the entrepreneurial vision of Violet Lee Gradwohl and bore the namesake of her own daughter. Violet’s cousin, noted artist Maxine Stevens sculpted the original mold in the likeness of her daughter, Drienne. The doll was first introduced in the heartland in 1946 and remained popular in the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s.

Fritz Duda, Managing Director for the Lee Family and Violet Gradwohl’s nephew stated, “Vi was truly ahead of her time by forming early alliances and joint ventures with the Girl Scouts, Peter Pan Peanut Butter, the Heart Fund Campaign and Steiff. Terri Lee was also one of the first companies to promote diversity with an ethnic line in the 40’s. I’m proud of our heritage and look forward to building our future. ”

Celebrated artist, Lee Platt one of the original painters of Terri Lee, will once again recreate the Terri Lee artistry by painting and signing a limited number of dolls adding to the collectibility of the new collection. Her delicate hand painting of the face and distinctive eyelashes is a signature style that collectors know and love.

The Patty-Jo doll was introduced in 1947, born of a well-known cartoon character created by Jackie Ormes, the first black woman cartoonist to be nationally syndicated. Though short lived with a production run of four years, Patty Jo was a favorite among collectors and remains quite collectible today.

“Fashions were a hallmark of the Terri Lee story. Collectors will not be disappointed in these new dolls. They have the finest fabrics and attention to detail is met from head to toe, including the signature Daisy bracelet.” said Merlene Bryant, Director of Product Development for Terri Lee Associates.

The editions will be extremely limited with the new collection. Terri Lee will have an edition of 500 and Patty Jo will have an edition of 300 units.
